Determine the working settings that work best on your device

The heart of Pocket Hack Master 2005 is the Speed control module. Allowing tweaking various speed parameters specific to the device and processor used, the Speed configuration module includes a fully featured benchmarking module that will determine the MIPS and memory performance for each speed setting. The module contains columns that describe the specific CPU/device parameters that participate in the speed setting. Benchmarking and burn-in tests allow to filter most of the unstable speed settings and to automate the configuration of the complex scaling and application gear engines. The speeds listed in the configuration module match the most popular speeds specific to the device used minimizing the effort needed to discover the working settings. Many complex filters can be applied to produce different views on the entire set of settings.

Control the Speed of your device

After your discover what the best stable speed settings for your device are changing the speed of the processor, memory, bus etc is as easy as a click of the stylus! All stable speeds that were marked by the user as "favorites" are now visible in the Set device speed module. Double click the desired speed setting to active it. Alternatively, use the Speed menu in the main application or click the tray icon of Pocket Hack Master 2005 to open a menu with the available settings and choose one.







Managed CPU scaling approach based on CPU load!

CPU frequency and voltage scaling is essential for embedded systems since it greatly improves battery life of the portable devices. The idea of frequency scaling is simple: if the CPU load is low the OS lowers the CPU clock. If the CPU load rises, the OS also increases the CPU frequency. This approach delivers performance when the embedded device performs CPU intensive tasks and enhances the battery life when the device is idle.

Pocket Hack Master was the first product to implement true scaling based on CPU load prediction. The scaling engine uses "plug-ins" that represent the actual algorithms used for scaling and CPU load prediction which makes it extremely powerful since adding a new scaling approach is a matter of developing a new "plug-in" module.

Configuring the scaling engine is extremely easy with Pocket Hack Master 2005 - open the Scale configuration module and check the speed settings you wish to use, select the scaling and the CPU prediction "plug-ins" and if needed change their parameters from their default values. Pocket Hack Master 2004 will start smoothly switching the speed "gears" when the CPU load starts changing. Application specific speed settings!

Pocket Hack Master 2005 can be configured to use application specific speeds. The application gear engine will change the settings when that specific application is in use. A complex decision taking engine is involved to determine which of the modules has priority over the speed setting requested by that module. The configuration process is very simple - choose an application from the built-in file browser or capture a running program then set the speed setting desired. Even macro settings such as "Use the fastest speed available" can be used.





Start menu meters

Another cool feature of Pocket Hack Master 2005 are the start menu meters. They are completely user configurable, reside on the start menu and occupy very little space. They will show the current speed gear, the battery level or the processor load. The tray icon can be optionally "animated" to reflect the CPU load as well.
